They make things quicker (no extra trip to the store for 1 missing ingredient), easier and are better for you. Many of these you have probably seen before and even used in the kitchen. But I decided to list these for fun and helpfulness in the day-to-day adventures of trying to live a healthy, happy life.<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-ubJotTY7vuc\/T9Kwi54QbKI\/AAAAAAAADks\/pBcY-lzv1mY\/s1600\/IMG_0112.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"213\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-ubJotTY7vuc\/T9Kwi54QbKI\/AAAAAAAADks\/pBcY-lzv1mY\/s320\/IMG_0112.jpg\" width=\"320\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>For whole eggs:<br \/>Egg substitute\/egg beaters<br \/>Egg whites (3 egg whites=2 eggs)<br \/>Unsweetened applesauce (1\/4 applesauce=1 egg; sub in baking only)<\/p>\n<p>For oil (in baking):<br \/>Applesauce (equal measurements)<\/p>\n<p>For butter:<br \/>Whipped butter (1\/2 the fat\/calories)<br \/>Applesauce in baking<br \/>Apple butter\/pumpkin butter<br \/>Cooking spray, small amount of olive oil <\/p>\n<p><b>All-purpose white flour:<\/b><br \/>Whole wheat pastry flour (light and airy for baking)<br \/>Oat flour <br \/>White wheat flour<br \/>Spelt flour<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-TvEOW7r5avY\/T1_h-yh3E3I\/AAAAAAAAC3g\/_nI4ngyp4Nc\/s1600\/photo%25284%2529.JPG\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-TvEOW7r5avY\/T1_h-yh3E3I\/AAAAAAAAC3g\/_nI4ngyp4Nc\/s320\/photo%25284%2529.JPG\" width=\"320\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p><span><b>Regular pastas:<\/b><\/span><br \/>Whole wheat pastas (at least 50% wheat flour)<br \/>Whole wheat orzo<br \/>Whole wheat couscous<br \/>Brown rice<br \/>barley<br \/>Bulgur<br \/>Quinoa (key-nwaahhhh&#8211;much harder to pronounce than to prepare) <\/p>\n<p><b>Traditional breadcrumbs:<\/b><br \/>Whole wheat breadcrumbs<br \/>Rice Krispies cereal<br \/>Corn flakes<br \/>Cornmeal<\/p>\n<p><b>Sugar:<\/b><br \/>Sucanat (sugar cane natural)<br \/><b> <\/b>Reduce (the amount of white sugar in a recipe and pump up the flavors of vanilla, almond, peppermint, cinnamon, or nutmeg)<br \/>Fruit juice (another type of sugar, but processed a little easier by your body than white sugar)<br \/><b> <\/b><br \/><b>Salt:<\/b><br \/>Savory spices (rosemary, smoked paprika, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, smoked chili powder, black and white pepper, cumin)<\/p>\n<p><b>Bacon:<\/b><br \/>Turkey bacon<br \/>&#8220;Veggie&#8221; sausage (Boca, Quorn, etc.)<br \/>Thinly sliced prosciutto<br \/>Thick sliced pancetta (more flavor=eating less &#038; having my fill) <\/p>\n<p><b>Milk from a moo cow:<\/b><br \/>Unsweetened almond milk (vanilla, chocolate, or original)<br \/>Soy milk<br \/>Hemp milk<\/p>\n<p><b>Cream:<\/b><br \/>Fat free half-and-half (some have lots of chemicals, so read the label first)<br \/>Low fat buttermilk (king of baking&#8211;can sub for cream + butter in a recipe!)<br \/>Silken tofu<\/p>\n<p><b>I challenge you this weekend to find one of your favorite, go-to recipes and try to make it with one of these (or another) healthier substitutes.
